Welcome!

Dairy Cow photoPenn State dairy extension educators created this innovative program to help Pennsylvania dairy producers look at their whole farm system and identify the bottlenecks in their operations that hinder profitability.

This unique program features a two-step process that starts with teaching advisers and producers how to use the systematic Penn State Dairy Profitability Risk Assessment Tool (DairyPRAT) to identify the factors that are preventing them from achieving a better bottom line. Following this, they can attend a series of workshops designed to help them address these issues.

Instructors are dairy educators from Penn State Extension, as well as faculty and staff from the following Penn State departments:

  • Agricultural and Biological Engineering
  • Dairy and Animal Science
  • Veterinary and Biomedical Science

The Two-Step Process

Step 1

The Agribusiness Advisers’ Workshop • December 13-14, 2005
The Dairy Producers’ Workshop • January and February 2006

Step 2

Extension Workshops • Coming in 2006 and 2007
